Interpersonal or oral communication
Descriptor: Presentation skills, interviews, listening
This topic is difficult to represent in this portfolio. I believe that oral communication can best be judged face to face. Eye contact and body language are key components of interpersonal and oral communication. However, I offer a few examples.

Here I offer a PowerPoint presentation, with sound (7MB) as evidence of my proficiency with PowerPoint and ability to speak clearly.

I have spent a fair amount of time behind a podium as I have initiated what I call Q&A sessions for the staff in my department. For example, the migration from Netscape Messenger to Microsoft Outlook required a session where I demonstrated the major differences and pointed out the changes in terminology between the two email clients.

Before I came to Princeton University I worked for the Research and Development division of Union Camp (which was since bought out by Interntational Paper). I recognized the low level of computer literacy and sought out an area in the building that could be used for a training room. I was involved in the selection of equipment including desks and projection equipment. I scheduled outside vendors to come in for full day training. But I also led many one hour presentations myself in an effort to increase the Microsoft Office comfort level in the building. My classes were very well received.
